Tip of The Day
Premium vs Normal fuel
Higher RON (Research Octane Number) & additives elevate normal fuel
to a premium status. The higher octane numbers make the fuel burn
more effectively & is also said to prevent engine knocking. The
additives ensure that the engine is cleaned from the inside as well.
So, does it give more power?
The answer is both Yes & No. Higher octane fuel generally suits for
performance engines, where all these RON numbers means more horse
power. Regular engines don’t come with the same compression ratios as
their turbo/supercharged performance cousins & they get the more out
of it.
Then, what about mileage?
The additives in the fuel will help the engine to run smoother & in
the long term this shows up as a slight increase in the mileage as
well. But, these all depend on the driving style & conditions.
In short, selecting the type of fuel shall be based on benefits,
efficiency & the impact on the wallet.
