Tip of The Day
The right way to steer
The most recommended way to hold a steering wheel is to place your
hands on the 9 o’ clock & 3 o’ clock position ( if the steering wheel
is a clock, then where these two digits will be on it ). It allows you
to turn the wheel more effectively.
Some habits to avoid while driving are:
Don’t rest the hand on the gear lever as it will eventually damage the
shift fork over time. The steering wheel is not an armrest, so don’t
drape the hand or the forearm over the top of the wheel. Apart from
reducing control it will also affect your ability to react.
Don’t grab the steering from behind with the back of your arm facing
forward. Yes, this will provide more grip but if your vehicle have an
airbag & if it’s about to deploy, then it may result in injuries to
the hand in such an event.
Don’t use the palm of your hand while making a turn. It feels cool to
do so, but if the front wheel hits an obstacle, you will have only
minimal control to stop the wheel spinning out of control.
