Tip of The Day
Caring the turbo charger
The most common turbo failure results from hot shut down, ie; not letting the charger cool down properly. The turbo charger spins much faster than the engine itself. The inertia will keep the charger spinning even after you switch off the engine. The most common cause of turbo failure is oil cooking, which occurs when the oil that lubricates the center cartridge heats up & forms solidified deposits.
So, the ideal way is to idle the vehicle for a minute or more after a hard drive then shut down the engine. This will keep the RPM levels in control & helps the turbo. About a minute of idling isn't going to cost a lot of fuel, but will surely make the turbo charger last much longer.
