Understanding the stains under your vehicle
Stains under the vehicle may not seem to be a problem but, if you see
wet stains then it may be an indication to a much serious issue. The
stains could indicate a radiator leak, damage from an overheated
engine or a pump that needs to be repaired. Leaks such as these should
be addressed quickly.
Yellowish, black or dark brown fluid indicates engine oil leak. Light
red, red or brownish red could indicate transmission fluid or steering
fluid leak. Coolant usually has a greenish colour. Clear to yellowish
in colour with medium thickness means brake fluid.
Such repairs if left unattended could run into a lot of money, so they
must be addressed quickly. It’s always a good practice to do an
overall inspection before you start the vehicle for the very first
time in the morning, as knowing how & keeping the vehicle in top
shape indeed saves a lot of money.
