Driving long distance at night
Few people regularly drive long distances at night, so on the rare
occasions when this is necessary, do not under estimate the need to
prepare properly as many accidents are caused by drivers falling
asleep.
Be very conscious about the fact that it’s all too easy to become
overwhelmed by fatigue without being aware about it. So, do not embark
on a long night drive after an exhausting day.
Keep off any alcohol related products which will affect your
concentration. Never take high dosage medicines or eat heavy food as
it will make you feel drowsy.
Do not drive for more than an hour straight without a break to stretch
your legs, have some fresh air or some coffee. Still if you feel
sleepy then do stop the car somewhere safe & take a quick nap.
Always be aware that fatigue at the wheel can be as lethal as driving
under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Always drive at speeds which
enable you to stop with in the distance that you can see.
