Things to avoid while driving manual

Resting hand on the gear lever - This has two major wrong consequences. First of all, the control over the steering reduces in case of a panic situation & secondly, it will unintentionally damage the selector fork.
Leaving the car in gear - If the car is switched off & the foot is off the clutch, then it doesn't make any difference. But if the engine is running & the clutch is engaged then it means putting extra pressure on the clutch. So, shift to neutral while at stops.
Using the clutch to stop rolling - Excessive usage of half clutch while at steep slopes to keep the car in line may cause excessive wear & tear to the transmission. The solution is to use hand brake or a combination of both instead.
Too much throttle in high gear - There is a wrong belief that high gears make the engine to rev much lower, it's partially true but there will be also a shortage in power delivery. In order to make sudden progress, shift to a lower gear without revving up on the high one.
